Securities Litigation and SEC Enforcement

At Milbank, I have represented defendants in Exchange Act Section 10(b), Securities Act Sections 11 and 12, common law fraud, market manipulation, and antitrust matters. I developed and executed litigation strategy through motions to dismiss, fact and expert discovery, class certification, and dispositive briefing. I supervised expert work on loss causation, event-study methodology, and damages. I deposed fact and expert witnesses.

I have represented hedge funds and other institutional clients in SEC enforcement investigations and proceedings involving complex financial valuation, trading, whistleblower allegations of fraud, and registration issues. I advised on developments in administrative law affecting SEC enforcement authority.

At Sullivan & Cromwell, I served as third chair in a multi-week SDNY criminal jury trial; cross-examined a key witness, argued evidentiary motions, and coordinated post-trial and appellate briefing that secured a post-trial judgment of acquittal on all counts. Separately, I argued a New York criminal appeal in the Second Department, securing reversal. I represented financial institutions in RMBS-era and fraud litigation, including a landmark monoline-insurer matter. I coordinated a team of 25+ associates on discovery, document review, and witness interviews in a major anti-money-laundering (AML) and terrorist-financing investigation. I prepared the final report to prosecutors and regulators.

AI Strategy and Implementation

I have presented several times to the partner-level technology committee and to litigation partners and associates on AI strategy and on integrating AI tools into litigation workflows (one earned the highest rating ever for a litigation-group training). I have developed in-house AI tools to analyze specialized data for publication. I built a business-development system for litigation partners that ingests public news and court and regulatory filings and uses a multi-stage AI pipeline to deliver customized daily alerts on new business opportunities. I have published analysis on attorney-client privilege risk in AI workflows.
